You are writing exactly what I would have done. I had experience with WebAssembly, but I still think the main problem is with JavaScript, the specification, the architects behinds the langugage and its community. Unless WebAssembly is integrated into the Web Browsers with some advanced tooling and claims of replacing JavaScript. I'm not feeling like using it.
