The Microsoft Windows Script Host (WSH) (formerly named Windows Scripting Host) is an automation technology for Microsoft Windows operating systems that provides scripting abilities comparable to batch files, but with a wider range of supported features. This tool was first provided on Windows 95 after Build 950a on the installation discs as an ...

And I never become one egg
17:11
I just wanted to automate things in a simple readable way.
17:11
Then got confused why Batch and Bash languages are such unreadable garbages.
17:12
Also one other thing I like about Batch and Bash is that you can view the source code immediately and rerun it immediatelty

It's available everywhere.

yeah, interpreted languages are more suitable than compiled for scripting.

having undescriptive arguments like /B /T /A-D or whatever and mixing "looping over files" into the general for loop is a terrible design decision of batch (edited)
Avatar
Uoou-Not-the-egg 20-Sep-22 05:20 PM
I think the last time I've dropped to commit to tcc the compilation script is that I've realised that Batch is too limited to support --parameters="somethings", that's what happening now. I could try, but there are some weird behaviours that simply crash without giving you a way to throw an error.
17:21
And I don't want to submit some script with weird behaviour that crashes if you add a non-paired double quote thignthign"thign instead of "thignthign"thign
17:22
The script will become even more weird if I'll try to handle it
17:22
It's like patching a water leak.
17:23
It's just such a waste of time.

The general rule for me: if the project can't even make sensible names.. you think it's so much better in the source code itself? (edited)

The only reason we have so many duplicate implementations of things, is that people can not organise their projects and poorly write the source code.
